State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine (SHSU)

The State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine (Держгідрографія) is a state institution under the Ministry of Infrastructure. Its tasks include hydrographic and oceanographic surveying, maintaining aids to navigation (lighthouses, buoys), publishing nautical charts and sailing directions, and issuing Notices to Mariners. The main tasks of the SHSU are hydrographic surveying performance; electronic (ENC) and paper navigational nautical and inland waterways charts compilation, production and update; aids-to-navigation (AtoN), including lighthouses, deployment, maintenance, operation and exploitation; MSI, including coastal warnings dissemination, using the NAVTEX System, navigational situation monitoring by means of the Automatic Identification System (AIS) coastal base stations monitoring within the area of responsibility of Ukraine in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov and also along the navigable inland (river) waterways within the territory of Ukraine.
