Urban Research Centre (URC) started in 1998 as a group within Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE), Bangalore, South India, which is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) focusing on urban issues. Urban Research Centre is formed as an outcome of the TIDE – NFI collaborative work on Urban governance in Karnataka during 1998 – 2004. The vision of URC is \"Socially relevant research to contribute to a responsible civil society and responsive governance in the urban areas\"
