About
The Climate Research and Innovation Institute Seychelles (CRIIS) was established on October 20, 2022, by a group of scientists specializing in four key fields: agriculture, disaster risk reduction, energy, carbon markets, and food quality and food security. Their shared vision is to become the leading platform for scientific and innovative climate research, particularly for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Indian Ocean region.
CRIIS is committed to fostering an environment that promotes and empowers individuals to conduct scientific research and implement innovative projects. Its key objectives include:
- Generating and sharing knowledge through innovative research findings and conceptual developments for individuals, organizations, and society.
- Establishing joint research initiatives and partnerships with local and international institutions.
- Conducting cross-sectoral climate research aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Engaging with the private sector and government to secure funding and provide consulting for climate research projects.
- Encouraging collaboration between science, policy, academia, and the broader community.
Through these efforts, CRIIS strives to drive impactful climate solutions and sustainable development in the region.
