About
Klwów, once a town, now a village and the seat of the Commune Office in Przysucha County, is located in a forested area on the Sławno stream, 42 km from Radom, on the national road Tomaszów Mazowiecki-Radom. The Opoczno-Radom route originally ran through this settlement, then on to Lwów, hence the name Klwów.
The city was founded in 1413 by the privilege of King Władysław Jagiełło, who, in addition to the so-called Magdeburg rights, granted it the privilege of a market and 2 fairs. In 1662, Klwów had 36 houses, 370 inhabitants and was the property of the Kurdwanowskis, then it passed into the possession of the Świdzińskis.
Currently, the Klwów commune includes 16 villages and covers an area of 87 km 2 inhabited by about 3.8 thousand people. It is one of the largest pepper production areas in Europe.
