La Secretaría de Desarrollo Social (SEDESOL)

The Secretariat of State is created within the Office of Social Development, belonging to the Executive Branch, to institute the social policies of a supportive, inclusive and violence-free Honduras. The Secretariat of Social Development has as strategic objectives: to implement the design, evaluation, planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of public policies in order to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness of the social protection system, which guarantees the enjoyment of the social, economic, cultural and environmental rights of groups in situations of poverty, extreme poverty and vulnerability in Honduras. Promote the universalization of policies, plans, programs and projects in social matters, through coordinated and articulated actions with civil society, local governments, institutions and entities that address attention to sectors in situations of poverty, extreme poverty and vulnerability in the country. Develop a coordinated and comprehensive strategic agenda for the social sector, enabling the coordination of effective responses to the population living in poverty, extreme poverty, and vulnerability in Honduras.
