About
The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve) is a peripheral service of the State's direct administration, endowed with administrative and financial autonomy under the direction of the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, in coordination with the Minister for State Modernization and Public Administration, in matters relating to local authorities, and with the Minister for the Environment and Climate Action, in matters of the environment and land use planning. The CCDR Algarve's mission, within its geographical area, is to implement environmental policies, land and city planning, regional development and incentives for social communication and to provide technical support to local authorities and their associations. Responsibilities:
-Contribute to the definition of the general bases of the regional development policy within the scope of the country's economic and social development policy;
-Implement, evaluate and monitor, at a regional level, environmental and land-use planning policies; -Ensure the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of territorial management instruments;
-Coordinate decentralized services with regional scope;
-Ensure compliance with management responsibilities within the scope of cohesion policy and other European Union policies; -Stimulate inter-regional and cross-border cooperation;
- Provide technical support to local authorities and their associations, in conjunction with the General Directorate of Local Authorities. The president of the CCDR is, by nature, manager of the regional operational program (CRESC Algarve 2020), within the scope of Portugal 2020. The services provided by the CCDR Algarve are organized, in functional terms, according to the following areas: spatial planning, environment, regional development, local administration, surveillance and control, administrative and financial management, communication and information systems.
