Public Institution "Plačiajuostis internetas" is a non-profit organization owned by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania. The institution focuses on the physical development of fiber-optic infrastructure - it lays fiber-optic cables in rural areas, and the provision of services is taken care of by communication operators who provide Internet, television and other services to end users. In cooperation, it is believed that digital technologies are an indicator of quality of life, therefore, a lot of effort is made to expand the possibilities of society to use information technologies and to reduce the digital divide.
