Green Life Alliance for Development (GLAD)

Background

GLAD is a local NGO based in Yangon. GLAD was established as a local CSO in Kyaukpadaung, Mandalay Division, and has volunteered for environmental conservation and sustainable community-based development in the area. In doing so, the public is encouraged to take care of the environment; It started by providing awareness-raising training on natural resource management and sustainable development. In order to do so, the funds were raised with donations from donors.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Myanmar was prone to earthquakes and tsunamis. Cyclone Nargis in 2008, which was particularly notable for cyclones; Floods; Natural disasters such as tsunamis and droughts are frequent and ongoing. In drought-prone areas, such as central Myanmar, environmental awareness needs to be created and community-based sustainable development is needed. That is why GLAD is committed to community-based development and environmental rehabilitation programs. In addition, food security and emergency relief work is carried out by the community as needed or with other partners.

As GLAD's capabilities increase, so does the field of operations. As a result, much of the region has been covered, and democracy, Extensive capacity building and awareness-raising training on the concepts of development and community participation is also available. We use the proceeds from donor organizations to enhance GLAD's capacity and expand its business. GLAD opened its headquarters in Yangon in July 2015 and was officially registered on April 8, 2016.

Vision

The people must have the capacity to provide a socially equitable society based on citizenship and human rights by actively cooperating with innovative ideas that understand the concepts of development.

Mission
