Foundation “Ein Körnchen Reis”

A Grain of Rice – ‘ein Körnchen Reis’ – Foundation was established in 1992 by Rosemarie and Karl Dieter Sorg with the aim to support local self-help initiatives in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Their programmatic focus is on agriculture and rural development, economic development especially of women, support for street children and health and hygiene measures. They are particularly interested to work with small grassroots initiatives. Their annual funding volume is around €25,000. So far they have funded health projects, training of women and girls, education of children, agricultural activities, water and sanitation, handing out micro-credits to women, etc. They are mostly funding small local organisations.
