About
Africa GreenTec is a German social enterprise which empowers people in the Global South to achieve more self-determination and growth through sustainable energy solutions. With our sustainable system solution we build ImpactSites, in which entire village communities in rural areas are equipped and empowered with electricity and modern technologies.
We have rethought electricity and developed an intelligent system that can withstand the harsh conditions of off-grid regions in Africa and even exceed modern European standards. We rely on an extensive portfolio of products and service solutions such as state-of-the-art solar energy, smart meter technology, cooling systems, water treatment and internet access.
More than 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa have no access to electricity.
With the ImpactSite, Africa GreenTec has developed a holistic systems solution that makes it possible to supply entire village communities in rural regions with electricity and sustainable technologies. We’ve taken electricity to the next level by developing an intelligent system that can withstand the harsh conditions of off-grid regions in Africa – outperforming even modern European standards.
Products such as our powerful Solartainer® are driven by solar energy – the most logical and clean energy source of Africa. An intelligent network distributes the electricity via a pre-paid tiered pricing system and enables data analysis as well as remote maintenance.
Our country subsidiary AGT Mali was founded in August 2017. Its headquarters is located in the capital Bamako. Mali can be seen as the origin and birthplace of Africa GreenTec in many ways. Not only were our first Solartainers® placed in Mali to provide communities with sustainable electricity, but our co-founder Aida Schreiber is also from Mali. Time and again, Aida and Throsten Schreiber found their roots, their experience and connections leading them back to Mali. Their joint visit to a diesel power plant in the capital Bamako was the decisive experience leading to the foundation of Africa GreenTec.
