Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P.

The Camões - Instituto de Cooperação e da Língua, IP, abbreviated as Camões, IP, is a public institute integrated in the indirect administration of the Portuguese State, with administrative, financial and inheritance autonomy, which continues to be assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs MNE) under the superintendence and guardianship of the respective minister.

In the field of cooperation, Camões, I.P. propose and execute the Portuguese cooperation policy and coordinate the cooperation activities carried out by other public entities that participate in the implementation of that policy. In the field of external promotion of the Portuguese language and culture, Camões, I.P. has the mission of proposing and executing the policy of teaching and disseminating the Portuguese language and culture abroad, ensuring the presence of Portuguese readers in foreign universities and managing the network of Portuguese teaching abroad at basic and secondary level.
