Markant Foundation

The Markant Foundation was established in 1993 by Markant Handels- und Industriewaren-Vermittlungs AG in Pfäffikon SZ. The Foundation supports cultural and charitable projects in Central Switzerland and, to a lesser extent, in other parts of Switzerland, and occasionally also abroad. In the cultural sector, it funds contemporary projects in music, theatre, visual arts, film, and literature, as well as scholarships for exceptionally talented individuals. In the charitable sector, it focuses on social initiatives, particularly those promoting youth development and supporting people with disabilities or disadvantaged groups. Projects are evaluated based on distinctiveness, sustainability, professionalism, impact, feasibility, and financial viability. The Foundation does not fund projects that have already started, general institutional support without a specific project, monument preservation, renovation or restoration work, politically or religiously motivated initiatives, operating costs, or remodelling projects.
