Rural Development Initiatives Organization

Introduction The Rural Development Initiatives Organization (RDIO), established in 2012, operates as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) dedicated to fostering development in rural areas. Based in Malu’u, North Malaita, Malaita Province, Solomon Islands, RDIO is committed to addressing challenges and unlocking opportunities to improve rural communities nationwide.

Mission Statement To facilitate funding opportunities from donors to address rural development initiatives and empower communities through sustainable, impactful projects.

Vision Statement To help rural communities across the Solomon Islands achieve their development goals, fostering a future of self-reliance, growth, and prosperity.

Objectives or Goals 1. Support infrastructure development in rural areas. 2. Promote educational opportunities for rural youth and children. 3. Enhance access to healthcare and sanitation facilities. 4. Empower women and marginalized groups through targeted programs. 5. Build partnerships to maximize resources and support rural communities.

Core Activities / Programs
 Infrastructure Development Projects: Constructing classrooms, training centers, and sanitation facilities.
 Educational Support: Providing tuition assistance for healthcare training and literacy programs.
 Community Empowerment Initiatives: Working with women, youth, and other vulnerable groups to promote inclusion and growth.
 Capacity Building: Strengthening rural institutions and enhancing community resilience.
 Successful Initiatives: Notable accomplishments include classroom and sanitation projects in Malaita Province and Temotu Province, midwifery training tuition fees with the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department of National Referral Hospital, and Australian Direct Aid Programs.
