The Directors Guild of South Africa (DGSA) is a professional association dedicated to advancing the art and craft of directing in the South African film and television industry. Established in 2024, the DGSA serves as a unified voice for directors, advocating for their rights, fostering creative collaboration, and promoting excellence in filmmaking.

What We Do

• Industry Representation & Advocacy: We champion the rights of directors by advocating for fair contracts, equitable pay, and improved working conditions. Our commitment extends to protecting both the economic and creative rights of our members, ensuring they receive the recognition and respect they deserve.
• Professional Support & Legal Assistance: DGSA provides members with essential resources, including contract templates, legal guidance, and mediation support in disputes with clients. When necessary, we facilitate access to legal representation to safeguard our members' interests.
