About
Quercus is a Portuguese nongovernmental organization (ONGA) founded on October 31, 1985. It is an independent, non-partisan association of national scope, non-profit and made up of citizens who have gathered around the same interest in Nature Conservation and Natural Resources and advocating for the Environment in general, with a view to sustainable development.
Over the years, Quercus has been occupying in Portuguese society a place both irreverent and constructive in the defense of the multiple causes of nature and the environment. Its scope of action now covers a number of thematic areas of environmental relevance, including, in addition to conserving nature and biodiversity, energy, water, waste, climate change, forests, sustainable consumption, environmental responsibility, among others. This specialized work is largely supported by several working groups and permanent project officers. Quercus promotes several communication campaigns and runs a TV program called Green Minute airing in official TV channels every week day.
Quercus is a member of European and international organizations ans platforms, such as the European Environmental Bureau, Climate Action Network Europe, Pesticides Action Network Europe, International Union for Nature Conservation, among others.
