About

Civil society organizations (CSOs) play a crucial role in immunization, and maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH). More than 4000 CSOs - including non-governmental organizations, advocacy organizations, professional and community associations, faith-based organizations and academia from around the world - come together to form the Gavi CSO Constituency. Together we help advance Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance vision of a world where all children are reached with life-saving vaccines.

Civil society is represented on the Gavi Board by an elected Board member and alternate. The CSO Board member and alternate are supported by the wider Gavi CSO Constituency — a broad network of over 4000 CSOs from across the globe— and the Gavi CSO Steering Committee, a group of 19 civil society organisations from 15 different countries that guide the Constituency in its work.

Each of the 19 CSOs represented on the Gavi CSO Steering Committee brings a unique and valuable perspective to the work of the Alliance, as well as important organisational resources to support Gavi’s mission. In addition, each organisation plays a different part in ensuring that vaccines reach children. The Steering Committee meets face-to-face two times a year and holds monthly regular calls to advance their strategic goals.
