About
The María Elena Moyano Center was founded on September 20, 2000. Its founders were a group of professionals involved in programs to combat poverty. The name "Center for the Promotion of Equity" reflects the main focus of our work: promoting equal opportunities and contributing to closing the gap between poverty and wealth.
Using the name María Elena Moyano, we commemorate the leader of the soup kitchens in Villa El Salvador (south of Lima), who, from her community, spearheaded efforts to demand justice and peace. María Elena Moyano Delgado was a Peruvian social activist and community leader, popularly known as "Mother Courage."
The María Elena Moyano Center is a non-profit civil association, duly registered with the supervisory body: the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI). It has been authorized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance as a Donation Recipient.
Our work consists of providing learning resources to combat poverty and preserve the health of the planet. We do this through actions that ensure the responsible use of natural resources, develop entrepreneurship and employment skills, and foster strategic abilities and competencies in primary school children.
