About
Syngenta plays a critical role in addressing the increasing demand for food, feed and fiber in the face of limited resources in the Asia-Pacific region.
Pangasinan is Syngenta’s first GM Corn processing plant in the Asia Pacific. Construction of the plant commenced in 2010 when Syngenta Philippines broke ground to build a state of the art facility with initial single cycle dryer capacity of 240MT. Capacity was increased in 2011 with the installation of another 300MT single cycle dryer. In 2014 recognizing the opportunity to supply GM seeds to the newly deregulated market in Vietnam in 2015 Syngenta Philippines partnered with Prasad Seeds to construct a 720MT single cycle dryer, construction of which will be completed in early 2015. The combined capacity of in house and tolling facilities will initially accommodate up to 13,700 metric tons of wet ear-corn seeds with a 75 day planting window. Capacity can be expanded up to 22,500 metric tons of wet ear-corn seeds with a 90 day planting window and 100% dryer efficiency. The site also has in-house conditioning, packing and warehousing capability. More than 1,600 local farmers, who supply harvested corn for processing, directly benefit receiving contract prices for their produce.
