WIDOWS AND SINGLE MOTHERS DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION

WIDOWS AND SINGLE MOTHERS DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (WISIMODO), a women-led Community Based Organization, was established in June 2021 and is registered with Mityana District Local Government, Community Development Office (Reg. No. TTA.DIV/243/2021).Operating in Mityana, Central Uganda, WISIMODO envisions a society where marginalized widows, single mothers and their children (OVCs), and youth especially Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYWs), achieve social justice, protection, and participation.

WISIMODO empowers these vulnerable groups socially, economically, emotionally, and spiritually through self-help initiatives, sustainable networks, and partnerships. Guided by transparency, integrity, teamwork, and sustainability, the organization works to improve access to social justice, livelihoods, health, education, and environmental conservation and sustainability.

Currently, WISIMODO supports 252 OVCs and 157 widows and single mothers by providing educational materials, clothing, and food support, aiming to reduce generational poverty and enhance resilience in our community. Livelihood enhancement for widows and single mothers including training in organic agriculture.
