About
The story of GDF SUEZ in the Middle East started in 1994 with our first investment in Oman to develop the first Independent Power Producer in the Gulf, the 270 MW Al Manah plant. We expanded into the UAE with the acquisition of the Al Taweelah independent water and power project in 2000 and opened a business development office in Dubai three years later.
Today, Dubai is the headquarters of a region that spans the six GCC countries, Morocco, South Africa, India and Pakistan, with satellite offices in Casablanca, Johannesburg and New Delhi, and a portfolio of ca. 30 GW power (gas, wind and coal) and 5.27 million cubic meters of desalination capacity in operation and under construction. Prospection in select countries on the eastern and western coasts of Africa has been initiated.
