Municipality of Kovacica

In the fertile southeastern part of Vojvodina, on the surface of 419 km2 the municipality of Kovačica extends. In the south it borders with the municipality of Pančevo, in the east with the municipality of Alibunar, in the northeast with the municipality of Sečanj, in the north with the municipality of Zrenjanin, and in the west with the municipality of Opovo. The altitude ranges from 75 m in the area of the tamil alluvial plane, up to 135 m in the eastern and southeastern part of the territory. It is 50 km from Belgrade and 90 km from Novi Sad. There are eight settlements: Kovačica, Padina, Debeljača, Crepaja, Uzdin, Samos, Idvor and Putnikovo. According to the data from the last census in the municipality of Kovačica there are a total of 27.890 inhabitants. Out of that, there are 6.763 inhabitants in Kovacica itself, and in other places: Padina 5.760, Debeljača 5.325, Crepaja 4.855, Uzdin 2.498, Samos 1.247, Idvor 1.198, Putnikovo 243.
