About

TDH is a child rights organisation, active in over 30 countries, seeking the protection of the rights of every child, regardless of the his/her origin and background and in conformity with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.  Protection and health form the cornerstone of its work for 1.47 million beneficiaries. The organization has approximately 100 people at headquarters and 1100 staff globally. It has a budget of CHF 58,84 Million/year.
Terre des hommes regional office for Central and South East Europe, based in Budapest Hungary, aspires to contribute to the realization of children’s fundamental rights across South East Europe, in particular the rights to be protected from abuse and violence. More specifically, Tdh Regional Office is pursuing two main objectives:

  • Ensuring better protection for migrant children on the move originating from or transiting across the region, including best interests’ determination, access to services and the identification of durable solutions.
  • Initiating changes to increase the protection of children by building knowledge, and ensuring that child protection professionals and key stakeholders from SEE have increased access to technical resources and support networks allowing them to expand, improve, and advocate for qualitative services and policies for children in need of protection and their families.

From its regional hub in Budapest, Terre des hommes (Tdh) develops and implements regional projects with partners across Europe. In Hungary, we improve the access to quality services for children in contact with the law and we fight against the isolation of Roma and other vulnerable communities. We promote child-friendly, inclusive and innovative services and measures for all children. The war in Ukraine has forced more than 14 million people to leave their homes, either within their country or abroad and we support them with child-friendly spaces and mother baby corners.
