About
We are an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists offering a broad range of professional services. Through our work, we make a positive difference in the world. We shape a better world.
Founded in 1946 with an initial focus on structural engineering, Arup first came to the world’s attention with the structural design of the Sydney Opera House, followed by its work on the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Arup has since grown into a truly multidisciplinary organisation. Most recently, its work for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing has reaffirmed its reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs that reinvent the built environment.
Turkish branch:
Straddling the Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul has a foot in Asia and the other in Europe. Istanbul has always been the centre of the country's economic life because of its location as an international junction of land and sea trade routes.
Arup in Istanbul, designed, project managed and supervised hundreds of building projects which include the recently completed Kanyon Complex, which became an important centre of attraction for the city. It is a vast multi-use development that includes a 27-floor office tower that features a tubular steel lattice frame that forms an external 'exoskeleton'.
The Forum Istanbul Shopping Centre, a large shopping and entertainment centre in the Bayrampasa district, and Koc University Campus at Sariyer district are some of the other distinguished Arup projects.
