About
IITA - International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (Tanzania) is an Africa-based international non-profit research-for-development organization founded in 1967 that generates agricultural innovations to meet Africa’s most pressing challenges of hunger, malnutrition, poverty, and natural resource degradation. IITA is a member of CGIAR System Organization, a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. IITA’s main priority is securing a stable and food secure future for sub-Saharan Africa. To do this we focus on key research themes that look at staple food crops, including banana and plantain, cassava, cowpea, maize, soybean, and yam.
