About

Civic initiatives carry out their activities through two programs: the civil society capacity building program and the public policy program.

Civic Initiatives was born in 1996 when a group of prominent NGO activists involved in the anti-war movement and non-nationalist democratic opposition recognized the need to create a social, civic base that could support democratic change by teaching citizens about their rights, democracy, civil society and how to be active citizens, so that they can decide on their own lives.

Civic initiatives were founded by: Dubravka Velat, Miljenko Dereta, Žarko Korać, Vukašin Pavlović, Rade Radovanović, Nadežda Gaće, Srdjan Bogosavljević, Nada Marinković, Milan Podunavac, Mina Vidaković, Nada Korać and Ivo Visković.
