About

The Mexican Association of Forestry Professionals AC.

The Mexican Association of Forestry Professionals AC, was founded in 1951 under the name of the Mexican Association of Forestry Professionals, AC. The change was due to the need to give greater openness with the concurrence of other members of different specialties that are linked to the country's forestry activity.

The organization has a deep gremial spirit and has had participation in all aspects linked to the recent history of the forestry sector and the agronomic environment in general. Its founders and original members were particularly the first graduates of the specialty of forests that had been established in 1933 in the National School of Agriculture (today Universidad Autónoma Chapingo). Its purposes were based on the need to give more dynamism and updating to the actions that were carried out in the federal government in forestry; in addition, to agglutinate around the guild the professionals who worked in the different entities of the country and who developed forestry and faunal activities.

In this group you can not forget the names of the Engineers, Juan Manuel González C., Genaro Salgado Gómez, Alfonso Loera Borja, Felipe Burgos Martínez, Porfirio Cuanalo Guevara, Antonio Alarcón Moreno, Roberto Villaseñor Ángeles, Armando Cuevas López, Mario Ávila Hernández, and many others that had a relevant participation in different areas of the forest process.

Their critical and objective points of view were always considered in the formulation of the different forest laws that have been issued, especially in the one of 1960 and its modifications in the one of 1971, in which the fundamental bases are established for the consolidation of the Forest Exploitation Units that are the antecedents of what were later called Forest Management Units and are now considered in the 2003 Law as Forest Management Units, with their structural and function differences, since the concepts of tenure of the areas Forests have changed drastically, as has the power of the nation over natural resources.

New times call for the implementation of new strategies to define the future of the country's forest resources and their owners, who deserve to have better living conditions and greater clarity in what forestry should be as a provider of environmental goods and services. the society.

In a country with a rich history of social movements, forestry has adapted to the policies that the nation has demanded at each stage. Legislation, exploitation, among others, have been the origin and motive for forestry professionals to meet periodically in forums and congresses in which they are always aimed at the sustainable management of forests in order to improve, conserve and better use them. available resources.

The Mexican Association of Forestry Professionals AC., Currently headed by Ing. Jesús Martín Cuanalo Araujo, has historically distinguished itself as a united and thriving and solidary union with the causes of rural producers in Mexico.

With the slogan: "Living from the Forest for the Living Forest", the current National Executive Committee intends, within its main objectives, to create innovative proposals that help the Federal Government to carry out and implement public policies that affect conservation, development and sustainable management of Mexico's forests and the economic growth of rural forest communities.

Our organization has a history and therefore, it must be united, with its own ideas, with its own vision. We believe that in our work as forestry professionals, we must act with a social sense, consistent with the natural commitment derived from our origin and training.

In 2016, "The Global Quality Foundation " worldwide philanthropic organization recognizes us as "Association for World Conservation of High Excellence", thanks to the great work done in the current administration (2013-2017).
