Christian Michelsen Research AS (CMR)

Christian Michelsen Research is part of the NORCE research group. NORCE is a new and forward-looking research institute with great academic breadth and composed from strong academic communities. We deliver research and innovation in the areas of energy, health, climate, environment, society and technology. Our solutions respond to key societal challenges and contribute to value creation on a local, national and global basis.

The vision of the present CMR is to conduct research on industrial development. We offer our clients analyses of complex issues, as well as solutions, through prototypes and demonstrations. “From an idea to a product” is our guiding principle, placing us in the intersection between research and industry.

In January 2018, NORCE took over the ownership of Uni Research AS, the International Research Institute of Stavanger AS (IRIS), Christian Michelsen Research AS (CMR), Agderforskning AS and Teknova AS. The business was fully integrated in the autumn of 2018 when the five former institutes were merged into NORCE. In December 2018, NORCE took over the ownership of Norut Northern Research Institute AS, which was merged into NORCE in 2019.
