About
Founded in 1951 and depositary of the scientific heritage of E. Fermi and its school, the National Institute of Nuclear Physics is one of the most prestigious Italian research institutes. His task is fundamental research in nuclear, subnuclear and astroparticle physics, together with the development of related technologies.
The Section of Bari was established by resolution of April 21, 1972. It is one of the 19 Sections, 4 National Laboratories, 1 National Center for Telematics and Information Technology and 11 Linked Groups in which the INFN is organized in Italy. At present the Section is made up of 23 researchers, 5 technologists, 32 technicians and 7 administrative collaborators, together with the associated university staff made up of 60 researchers, 20 technicians, and 12 administrative staff. In the research and training activities of the Section, there are 24 young scholarship holders, PhD students and undergraduates, mostly coming from the University and from the Polytechnic of Bari. There are 5 foreign researchers.
