About
The establishment and development of the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) closely followed the transitional changes in Macedonia. MCIC was established in 1993, by several local initiatives with support from the Dutch Interchurch Aid (DIA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC). The establishment came in response to the problems arising from Yugoslavia’s break-up, heralding a sign of solidarity in the efforts for peaceful resolution of the problems, fostering of good neighborly relations and cooperation among all people living in Macedonia and promotion of peaceful and fair solutions for the existing differences in the region, in a hope that this is possible.
Since then MCIC implemented 72 programs, with over 1,600 projects, with a total budget of over 70 million EUR, making it second largest forundation / civil society organisation in Macedonia. MCIC works for peace, harmony and prosperity in Macedonia and the Balkans, through focus on several areas: Civil society devlopement; Good governance and anti-corruption; Social cohesion; Rural development; Migration and EU integrations.
