The concept of using PCMs (phase change materials) to store thermal energy has existed for many years. To date, however, the right application planning, reliable data on the PCM and in particular complete systems with consistent reliability, pricing, capacity and performance were lacking. There was simply no complete product capable of serial production, something which has prevented success in market penetration until now. The lack of macroencapsulation that was both functional and cost effective to manufacture also played a key role. To solve this dilemma, Axiotherm GmbH was founded.
