China Railway Material Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CRMG) is affiliated to China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as CRCC), one of the Global 500. Its predecessor is the Logistic Department of the PLA Railway Engineering Corps, which was incorporated into the Ministry of Railways in 1984 with the restructured Railway Corps. In 1990, it became the Material Bureau of CRCC, then in March 2003, it was formally named as CRMG, establishing the modern enterprise system.

With its headquarters in Beijing, CRMG has 17 wholly-owned subsidiaries in Northeast China, East China, Central South China, Northwest China, Southwest China, North China, South China, Hong Kong and Macau and other regions, and 3 holding companies and 3 joint stock companies. It owns more than 50 affiliated agencies in Anshan, Baotou, Panzhihua, Wuhan, Xuzhou, Nanchang, Guiyang and other cities. It boasts 31 large-scale storage bases in 25 pivot cities across China, 1,330,000 square meters of logistics space, over 40, 000 meters of special extended railways and 32,550 cubic meters of refined oil storage capacity, which forms a powerful logistics network. It is the material agency of the railway construction project authorized by the Ministry of Railways, service agency of rail tendering for railway construction and provider of special oil approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. It mainly does business in rails and fittings for the use of railway construction and transport, oils, priming systems, trade in steel used for large-scale infrastructure projects, cement and related materials, engineering logistics, material warehousing and delivery. 

CRMG enjoys a long history. It made great contribution in the War of Liberation and the War to Resist U.S Aggression and Aid Korea by building “the unbreakable transportation line”. It has successively provided materials for numerous national major projects, including Chengkun, Xiangyu, Yingxia, Dachen, Baozhong, Houyue, Lanxin (double lines), Jingjiu, Nankun, Qinshen, Xikang, Neikun, Xihe and Yuhuai railways, Jinghu, Jingshi and Wuguang high-speed railways and Beijing Subway. The newly-built railways in which it directly or indirectly participated totals 50,000 kilometers, accounting for more than 50% of the newly-built railways throughout China. It has also provided materials for such projects as the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Shanghai 2010 World Expo and the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, making new contribution to China’s railway industry.
