The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Ghana (the Government) have entered into a Millennium Challenge Compact (the Compact) for Millennium Challenge Account assistance to help facilitate poverty reduction through economic growth in Ghana in the amount of approximately five hundred and forty seven million US$ (MCC Funding). The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) on behalf of the Government intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of MCC Funding to eligible payments under this Contract. Payments by MiDA will be subject, in all respects, to the terms and conditions, including restrictions on the use of MCC Funding, of the Compact. No party other than the Government and MiDA will derive any rights from the Compact or have any claim to the proceeds of MCC Funding.
The five-year Compact aims at reducing poverty through the modernisation of agriculture in three designated areas of the country, namely;

*The Northern Agricultural Area; comprising five districts: Savelugu Nanton, Tolon Kumbungu, Tamale Metro, West Mamprusi and Karaga (the Northern Zone)
*The Afram Basin Area; comprising nine districts: Ejura Sekyedumasi, Kwahu South, Kwahu East, Sekyere East, Sekyere Afram Plains, Mampong Municipal, Sekyere Central, Kwahu North, Fanteakwa (the Afram Basin Zone)
*The Southern Horticultural Belt Area; comprising sixteen districts: Gomoa East, Gomoa West, Efutu Municipal, Awutu - Senya, Akuapim South Municipal, Upper Manya Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, Dangme West, Yilo Krobo, Kpandu, Hohoe Municipal, Ketu South, Ketu North, Keta Municipal, South Tongu and Akatsi (the Southern Zone)
