Title

Service Provider for Regional Research in Asia

Description

The South Asia Research Hub (SARH) of DFID has identified five emerging thematic areas which are common to the region or have cross-border relevance: urbanization, migration, resource scarcity, women’s economic empowerment, and violence against women. We are looking to fund 2-4 independent studies in these subject-areas. Preference will be given to studies on migration and urbanisation but proposals on the other topics will also be considered if of interest. The expected outcome of these studies is the availability and accessibility of high-quality contextualised research findings which is expected to lead to better strategic planning and evidence informed policy making in the region. SARH welcomes applications from researchers/research institutions to carry out these studies. Southern based applicants are encouraged to apply. Support to specific studies will be extended only if they are able to demonstrate that they will fill an important evidence gap, are closely aligned with DFID’s priorities in the region, and will contribute to effective policy making in the region. The objective of these studies is to examine key topics where evidence is lacking within the broad thematic areas of urbanization, migration, resource scarcity, women’s economic empowerment, and violence against women in Asia.
