Objectives: The Forest Management and Carbon Sink Development Project (Hunan IV) aims to improve forest resilience against climate change and enhance carbon sequestration and storage in selected forest areas in Hunan, China. It contributes to climate change mitigation and adaptation by applying close-to-nature forest management approaches for sustainable economic benefits. The project supports carbon accounting, trading, and benefit sharing compatible with forest carbon sequestration. It covers nine counties in Hunan, involving state, private, and collective Forest Land Use Rights, with a participatory approach to engage smallholders and ensure environmental and social safeguards.
