Gender Policy and Strategy Expert – Aquatic Environmental Management

Objectives: AU-IBAR, with support from SIDA, is implementing a four-year project on 'Conserving Aquatic Biodiversity in African Blue Economy'. The overall objective is to enhance the policy environment, regulatory frameworks, and institutional capacities for sustainable utilization and conservation of aquatic biodiversity and ecosystems among AU member states and regional economic communities. Key specific objectives include aligning international/regional instruments with biodiversity protection, optimizing biodiversity conservation and usage, mitigating negative impacts from coastal/marine activities and climate change, and strengthening gender inclusivity in biodiversity conservation and management.
