Objectives: The main objective of the project is to integrate climate risks into development planning at the national and subnational levels and to ensure the implementation of step-by-step and transformational adaptation measures that strengthen Kazakhstan's resilience to climate change. If the project establishes clear mandates, coordination mechanisms and standard procedures for adaptation to climate change in four priority sectors at the national and subnational levels through a multi-stakeholder process and enhances the capacity of decision-makers from the public and private sectors, Kazakhstan will implement both phased and transformational adaptation measures, thus strengthening its resilience to climate change. The NAP Kazakhstan project plans to incorporate adaptation solutions into at least 4 long-term national strategic documents and create opportunities in sectoral documents, while regional authorities prepare adaptation plans requiring specialized knowledge and training.
