Objectives: Djibouti, located in a region highly vulnerable to climate change impacts, faces urgent environmental challenges such as water scarcity, desertification, and extreme weather events. In 2015, Djibouti reaffirmed its commitment to combat climate change by ratifying the Paris Agreement. This led to the development and submission of its first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). In 2024, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MEDD) initiated a revision of the NDC to reflect increased ambitions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate impacts. Successful transition to sustainable, inclusive development hinges on stakeholder participation, including youth, who make up nearly 70% of the population.
