Feasibility Study on a Biodiversity Fund/ Facility for South Africa

Objectives: The primary objective of this consultancy is to evaluate the feasibility of a Biodiversity Fund or Facility managed by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) to support sustainable financing for nature-based solutions, biodiversity conservation, and ecological restoration. The fund aims to attract investment through innovative financial mechanisms, including blended finance instruments, to address environmental challenges. Tasks include conducting market assessments, identifying financial mechanisms, evaluating legal and regulatory considerations, and developing a governance and operational framework. Additionally, the consultant will develop a network of potential partners to support the fund's long-term sustainability and assess best practices in biodiversity finance globally.
