IC: Civic Participation and Governance in South Africa's Just Energy

Objectives: This consultancy aims to develop an action-oriented knowledge product analyzing civic participation and governance mechanisms within South Africa’s energy transition (JET). The consultancy will focus on documenting and analyzing current civic participation modes, evaluating participatory platforms' effectiveness, and synthesizing lessons to inform future policymaking. Additionally, it will develop actionable policy recommendations to enhance citizen engagement, support institutional inclusivity, and design scalable participatory transition models. Outputs will include initial reports, a draft knowledge product, and a final validated report presented in varied formats including PowerPoint. This effort is aligned with UNDP's governance and climate goals for equitable development and will engage multiple stakeholders including local governments, civil society, and community organizations.
