IC-Technical Consultant (National Project Officer)

Objectives: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India seeks to engage a Technical Consultant (National Project Officer) for a six-month assignment, as part of their project on sustainable management and restoration of degraded landscapes to achieve Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) in India. The consultant will work on initiatives that create carbon sinks through ecosystem-based restoration of degraded agricultural, forest, and pastoral lands. Key project tasks include enhancing enabling frameworks for sustainable land management, participatory landscape design, and strengthening capacities for monitoring and reporting on land degradation. The objective is to restore 26 million hectares of degraded lands by 2030, enhancing governmental and institutional frameworks at multiple levels to better document, analyze, and replicate intervention strategies for land restoration, while incorporating gender-responsive, participatory approaches.
