RFP-049-IND-2025 - Safai Mitras in the state of Maharashtra

Objectives: The tender aims to empower Safai Mitras (waste pickers) within the Maharashtra state by integrating them into the formal waste management structures and enhancing their access to social protection schemes. It focuses on facilitating social protection through awareness and advocacy efforts that ensure their inclusion in health, pension, and educational schemes. Specifically, the project will connect Safai Mitras to support helplines, aid them in obtaining necessary government IDs, and help link them to essential social schemes, with a special emphasis on women, targeting at least 40% female inclusion. Additionally, the program involves setting up a Mobile Facilitation Van to provide doorstep services for document verification and scheme registration, supporting real-time assistance for Safai Mitras. These interventions aim to uplift the livelihoods and resilience of this marginalized community, further enriched through training and deputing community resource persons for sustained engagement.
