The program’s objective is to lay the foundation to improve the competitiveness of the tourism sector in the OECS region. This will be achieved through (a) increasing tourism spending at selected pilot programed locations in each of the participating countries; (b) establishing a strategic approach to tourism development; (c) facilitating the movement of people among participating islands, using existing ferry systems; and (d) supporting better quality of services in the tourism sector. The key U.S. priorities at the World Bank include a multilateral health and economic response to COVID-19, debt sustainability and transparency, promoting governance and fighting corruption, ending energy poverty and supporting a strong emphasis on accountability, transparency and development impact.
Focuses on the development and management of tourism activities and services that support leisure, recreation, and sustainable travel.
Involves initiatives related to the movement of people, goods, and resources through land, water, and air transport systems.
