The program will include the following activities: (i) sanitation infrastructure, which will finance the rehabilitation and expansion of sewerage of the Varadero and Bella Vista Norte basins that drain to the Bay of Asunción, the construction of a wastewater treatment plant and indoor plumbing for the low-income population; (ii) technical assistance to the Empresa de Servicios Sanitarios del Paraguay SA (ESSAP) which include activities to improve their operational and management capacity; and (iii) environmental management, which will fund the development of a comprehensive management plan for the Bay of Asunción basin and the implementation of a plan of solid waste management in the zone of influence of the program. Status: Approved by the Board on 15 December 2014. Estimated total cost: US$ 110 million. Loan amount: US$ 110 million. Executing agency: To be determined.
