11.The objective of the proposed project is to support the Government of Lesotho in establishing an efficient and effective national social protection system to reach the poorest and help them improve their livelihoods. This project will support the modernization of the Lesotho social protection system. The project will consist of: the establish ment of common delivery systems (identification system, eligibility, management of ifnromation, payments, etc); the consolidation of programs; he re-orientation of programs towards addressing poverty and vulnerabiility; and strengthening the links between the safety net system and labor markets & productive activities. The project will also include a component on strengthening the social and poverty-related statistical system. Identification completed on 12 June 2014. Environmental Assessment Category B.
