Organisations

The requesting organisation is ISPT- Higher Polytechnic Institute Tete. The tender for this project expired on 28 August 2012.

Nuffic has awarded this tender to CINOP Global, which has formed a consortium with Maastricht School of Management and University of Witwatersrand (South Africa).

Project description

ISPT began its activities in March 2006 under an initiative of the Government of Mozambique to promote professional education and training as one of its key education priorities. ISPT currently has 800 students enrolled on Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Informatics Engineering and Accounting and Auditing courses.

However, the institution is still battling with basic constraints, such as a lack of equipment for internships and professional practice, lab equipment, young and inexperienced lecturers and support staff.
Priority areas

ISPT has established a number of priorities to help alleviate these constraints, including:

  •     promotion of research and innovative business activities with a gender perspective,
  •     improvement of its organisational capacity to develop and deliver high quality polytechnic education in mining engineering,
  •     strengthening of the qualifications of lecturers, researchers and support staff to bring them in line with national and international standards in higher education.

ISPT also requires support with:

  •     revision and/or development of course curricula and materials, in line with national requirements for the mining sector,
  •     enhancing its capacity to provide internships and professional practices,
  •     implementing adequate facilities such as laboratories and libraries (including software, e-learning platform, etc.) and an operational business unit.
