Project description

The project will help the University of Zambia implement its Strategic Plan 2008 - 2012 entitled 'Restoring Excellence in Teaching, Research and Public Service'. The project is expected to strengthen the University's capacity to provide quality and relevant teaching and learning, practical research and consultancy in order to enhance its contribution to the country's human capital and economic development.

The project will assist the university in mainstreaming gender and in strengthening its linkages with the labour market.

Objectives

The project will focus on the following objectives:

To develop, review and offer socially and economically relevant programmes through staff training and curriculum reform in the following academic fields:
- crop science
- mining engineering
- electrical machines and power systems
- natural resources
- environmental education
- gender

To improve UNZA's capacity to develop and deliver quality teaching and learning in accordance with international standards.
To enhance quality research and consultancy by strengthening organisational and human capacity in the abovementioned academic fields.
