TA-9095 REG: Strengthening Integrated Water Resources Management in Mountainous River Basins

The proposed regional capacity development technical assistance (TA) will help strengthen 
integrated water resources management (IWRM) in Afghanistan, Bhutan, and Nepal. The TA aims to 
assist the target river basins to implement IWRM in a  sustainable manner by (i) strengthening of 
water resources institutions; (ii) enhancing technical capacity of staff of water resources 
institutions; and (iii) disseminating the knowledge of and good practices for IWRM broadly in Asia 
and the Pacific region. Target river basins are Panj-Amu (Afghanistan), where TA seeks synergy with 
the Panj-Amu River Basin Project; Wangchhu (Bhutan), where the TA will supplement efforts 
undertaken by the Adapting to Climate Change through IWRM TA; and Bagmati (Nepal), where the TA 
will be implemented in conjunction with the Bagmati River Basin Improvement Project.
