The proposed development objective is to increase agricultural productivity and promote commercialization of smallholder farmers through productive linkage between the farmers and the private agribusiness firms in selected value chains. The project will aim at small holder commercialization and facilitating private sector investment in agribusiness by fostering productive business linkages between smallholder farmers and selected agribusiness firms with capacity strengthened by private business service providers. Agribusiness firms and SME groups will be selected on the basis of their innovative plans and experience working with organized farmers’ groups or cooperatives. The project will aim at supporting a few commodity value- chains with significant potential for enhancing competitiveness and creating jobs. Concept completed on 29 June 2017. (N) Smallholder Transformation and Agribusiness Rejuvenation Project (STAR-P)
The proposed development objective is to enhance agricultural productivity and facilitate inclusive private sector investment in agribusiness in selected areas of Liberia. The project will aim at promoting smallholder commercialization and facilitating private sector investment in agribusiness by fostering productive business linkages between smallholder farmers and selected agribusiness firms and groups organized as micro, small and medium enterprises with capacity strengthened by private business service providers. Agribusiness firms and MSME groups will be selected on the basis of their innovative plans and experience working with organized farmers’ groups or cooperatives. The project will aim at supporting a few commodity value-chains with significant potential for enhancing competitiveness and creating jobs. Identification completed on 26 September 2016. US$ 50.0 (IDA Credit). Consulting services to be determined. Implementing agency(ies) to be determined.
