The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) intends to release a solicitation to support the Government of Peru (GOP) in its efforts to reduce poverty and sustain reductions of coca in the Peruvian Amazon.
The Activity aims to improve public investment and household incomes in post-eradication areas. The Activity will achieve this objective by strengthening Peruvian institutions-particularly the Comision Nacional para el Desarrollo y Vida sin Drogas (DEVIDA), but also local governments and community-based organizations-so that they are more capable of delivering the help those citizens in post-eradication areas need to give up coca cultivation. Through improved national and local institutional effectiveness and public investment, the Activity will establish the basic conditions for licit and environmentally sustainable development to take hold. Specifically, the activity will:
- Strengthen DEVIDA's capacity to more effectively deliver post-eradication assistance (without continued USAID support);
2. Organize and empower post-eradication communities to define, advocate for, and implement social and economic development priorities; and
3. Improve the ability of national and sub-national governments to respond to the demand for government services and facilitate the conditions for local economic development in targeted areas.
USAID anticipates a 60-month time period for this activity.
All information required for the submission of an offer will be contained in the electronic solicitation package that will be posted at https://www.fbo.gov/.
