Contract Title: Improvement of Irrigation and Drainage Systems of Arys-Turkestan-1.

1. The Republic of Kazakhstan has received a loan from the World Bank toward the cost of the “Second Irrigation & Drainage Improvement Project (IDIP-2)” and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for "Improvement of Irrigation and Drainage Systems of Arys-Turkestan-1".

2. The Committee for Water Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Project Implementing Agency for the purposes of the IDIP 2, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for “Improvement of Irrigation and Drainage Systems of Arys-Turkestan-1". The major works involved, but not limited to, are:

• Earthwork to rehabilitate / construct earth canals (approx. 2,000,000 m3);
• Concrete works (approx. 48,000 m3);
• Construction of vertical drainage wells (72 wells);
• Construction of bridges (7 bridges);
• Construction of hydraulic structures, power lines and operational roads.

(Expected duration of the Contract is 36 Months)

3. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers  [January 2011, Revised July 2014] (“Procurement Guidelines”), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines. In addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
